King’s Park officially launched for Genting Highlands in Malaysia
Mega development will be delivered in phases, with two theme parks included in phase one

On July 22, King’s Park in Genting Highlands was launched with a grand opening celebration. Guests of honour included Yang Berhormat Dato’ Mohd Faizal Jaafar, chief executive officer of Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Pahang (PKNP), and Jayandren Subramaniam, Group CEO and Co-founder of King’s Park.

Sean Chen, executive vice president of King’s Park, stated in his welcome speech that the project, which has a gross development value of RM10 billion, will be positioned to become the new central business centre and integrated entertainment hub in Genting Highlands. By 2026, it is anticipated that 53 million people will visit Genting Highlands, with a catchment area of about 700,000 people within a 5-kilometre radius.

King’s Park Genting Highlands is a mega development in collaboration with Yuk Tung Group and the Association for the Promotion of Higher Education in Malaysia (APHEM), taking advantage of the already high visitor arrivals at Genting Highlands. An integrated entertainment destination with a distinctive fusion of retail and leisure options, the development is spread across 61 hectares of freehold land.

New project to be delivered in phases

Chen added: “This grand project will be segmented by phases. The first phase involves the provision of commercial shops that will provide our distinguished guests with a cinematic retail experience. We have spared no expense into injecting a unique sense of charm in each of these shops.”

He continued by saying that the commercial centre and two theme parks are included in the 21-acre phase one of the plan. Hotels and serviced apartments are in phase two. The recently announced Swissotel Genting Highlands, set to debut in 2028, will be included in phase three. Phase four will include additional shop lots, hotels, and serviced apartments. The last phase is planned to include medical amenities such as a hospital and wellness centre.

Dato’ Mohd Faizal said: ‘”I firmly believe that this is a project rife with potential, and I believe that this development would be a beacon for foreign investment in order to create a dynamic ecosystem of opportunities. The potential for growth and success within this Central Business District is boundless, and we extend a warm invitation to global investors to be part of this remarkable venture.

He added, “As the project progresses, we anticipate a multitude of businesses, residents, and tourists to be drawn to this thriving hub, cementing its status as the pulsating heart of an active and exciting region. Together, we are building not just a development, but a thriving community that embraces progress, innovation, and endless possibilities.”

Retail and entertainment

A 2,000 m section of modern pedestrian street stores may be found in the King’s Park commercial centre. With a focus on colonial and historical architecture, the 12 blocks will contain a total of 360 expertly designed shops. Each retail block unit has its own unique identity and façade design.

King’s Park is an integrated entertainment hub, setting it apart from the other retail establishments in Genting Highlands. Internationally renowned companies will be represented, and the development will feature brand-new experiences that are currently unavailable in Malaysia. There will be a variety of outdoor pursuits available, including eco-sports, mountain biking routes, amusement parks, and the largest terrarium in the world at over 600 metres long.

The first phase of commercial and retail shops is set to open in 2026.

King’s Park has cool temperatures of 15 to 25 degrees Celsius all year long and is surrounded by a 130 million-year-old jungle full of waterfalls, fresh air, and flora and fauna.

Genting Highlands is also home to Genting SkyWorlds theme park. Genting SkyWorlds opened in February 2022 and occupies 26 acres of land. It is home to 26 rides and attractions, with nine themed lands based on original IP and 20th Century Studios brands.
